



Discover the stunning Colca Canyon on a 2-day, 1-night tour, exploring its breathtaking landscapes, traditional villages, and the rich natural beauty of the valley. We will visit Chivay, famous for its hot springs, and marvel at the panoramic view of the canyon from Cruz del Cóndor, where we will witness the majestic flight of the Andean condor. Along the way, we will explore natural viewpoints, colonial churches, and impressive pre-Incan agricultural terraces. This experience is perfect for connecting with both nature and culture in this incredible region.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arequipa – Chivay
Pickup time: 7:30 – 8:00 a.m.
We will pick up travelers from their hotels and begin our journey to one of the deepest canyons in the world. Our route passes through Yura, skirting the Chachani snow-capped mountain, until we reach Pampa Cañahuas, part of the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, home to vicuñas, a species of South American camelid.
At the Tocra wetlands, we will spot various migratory bird species, including Andean flamingos. Continuing, we will cross the extinct Chucura volcano crater and stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, the highest point of our journey (4,910 meters above sea level), offering spectacular views of the Western Andes Mountain Range.
1:30–2:00 p.m.: Arrival in Chivay. Free time for lunch
Hotel check-in and rest.
In the afternoon, we will visit the La Calera hot springs, where we can relax in thermal waters with temperatures ranging between 35ºC and 38ºC.
(If staying at Colca Lodge, Refugio, Casitas del Colca, or Aranwa, guests can enjoy the hotel’s facilities, and dinner will be at their respective accommodations.)
7:00 p.m.: Optional dinner with folk show (For guests staying in Chivay. If staying in Yanque, additional transport will need to be arranged.)
Day 2: Chivay – Cruz del Cóndor – Arequipa
6:00 a.m.: Breakfast
6:30 a.m.: Departure to Cruz del Cóndor, a strategic viewpoint to admire the immensity of the Colca Canyon and, with luck, observe the majestic flight of the Andean condor in its natural habitat.
On our way back, we will visit the traditional villages of Maca and Yanque, known for their colonial churches and local charm. We will also stop at Antahuilque, Huayrapunko, and Peña Blanca viewpoints, offering stunning views of the valley and its ancient pre-Incan terraces.
Free time for lunch in Chivay. 1:00p.m.: Departure to Arequipa
2:30 p.m.: Short stop in Patahuasi to stretch and rest
4:30 – 5:00 p.m.: Arrival in Arequipa – End of the tour
